LONG BEACH, Calif. - the Highlanders/Scots had a big 21-point first quarter on Saturday, sealing a 41-0 victory over Jordan (Long Beach, Calif.).
Upland scored on a touchdown run by
Ronnie Esther, a
Tyler Hilinski touchdown pass to
Rene Sanchez and a touchdown pass by Hilinski to
Trevor Wright in the quarter.
After taking the lead on a Esther touchdown run in the first quarter, UHS led 28-0 at the half.
The Highlanders/Scots expanded their lead to 34 points entering the fourth quarter. Upland's lone score in the quarter came on a touchdown.
Upland's standout player in the win was Van Ginkel. He kicked five extra points.
The victory was a step in the right direction for the Highlanders/Scots, who were coming off a 57-28 defeat at the hands of Oaks Christian in its previous game. The loss was the third in a row for the Panthers. The victory ended Upland's two-game losing streak.
In a non-conference game next week Jordan (0-3) takes on Aliso Niguel, and Upland (1-2) will go up against Silverado also in a non-conference game.
