Akron will bounce into Thursday's match after beating Haxtun, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Rams blew past the Fightin' Bulldogs 13-3 on Thursday. Meanwhile, after a string of ten wins, Limon's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They came up short against Burlington, falling 11-4.
Limon saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Braxten Churchwell, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That double marked the first that Churchwell has hit this season. Logan Haflich was another, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases.
Akron is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.1 runs over those games. As for Limon, their loss dropped their record down to 10-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Akron has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Limon struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
