Softball Recap: Peck's Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Peck had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They blew past the Capac Chiefs 17-6. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matches by seven runs or more this season.

Sydney Parker was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. Parker was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ryleigh Ureel, who fired off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 2-for-3. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Katelyn Smith also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Peck always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .657. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Capac only posted an OBP of .448.

Peck pushed their record up to 14-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.3 runs over those games. As for Capac, they are on a 14-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-12.

Looking ahead, Peck will face off against Armada at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Capac, they will take on Brown City at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
