In what's become a running theme this season, the Geneva Panthers gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Dale County 65-23 on the road. Given Geneva's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 96th, while Dale County is ranked 339th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Geneva was led to victory by Simone Minnifield and Cheyenne Hammock. Minnifield scored 14 points along with three steals, while Hammock scored 17 points along with three steals. That's the first time this season that Hammock scored 15 or more points. Erica Torres was another key contributor, scoring three points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Geneva has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. As for Dale County, their loss dropped their record down to 6-11.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Geneva will take on Andalusia at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Andalusia is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road. As for Dale County, they will be playing at home against Slocomb at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Slocomb is coming into the game on a six-game losing streak.
