It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Armwood Hawks had no problem doing just that on Friday. They managed a 20-14 victory over Wharton. The victory was nothing new for Armwood as they're now sitting on seven straight.
Armwood got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Olontae Dean out in front who gained 102 total yards and a touchdown. Rhys Brush was another key contributor, throwing for 156 yards and three touchdowns.
Although Wharton took the loss, they still got scores from Malaqhi Jones and Jackson Jensen.
Armwood has yet to lose a game at home this season, leaving them with a 10-1 record. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 2-8 Bloomingdale and 3-7 Lennard (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 39.8% over those games). As for Wharton, their loss dropped their record down to 6-5.
Armwood's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Tampa Bay Tech at 7:30 p.m. on November 17th. Tampa Bay Tech will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last. Wharton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
