After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Windsor, the Manchester Red Hawks were happy to have found some success on Friday. They really took it to Wethersfield for the full four quarters, racking up a 60-20 victory on the road. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 34-14.
Manchester got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Emanuel Sampel out in front who threw for 293 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 13.3 yards per attempt. The team also got some help courtesy of Julian Henderson, who rushed for 152 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries.
Manchester's win bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Wethersfield, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Manchester will square off against East Hartford at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Connecticut (East Hartford is ranked 53rd, while Manchester is ranked 36th). Wethersfield will have plenty of time to ponder what went wrong as they've got a bye scheduled next week. After, they'll take on Newington at 6:00 p.m. on November 22nd. Newington is on a five-game streak of home losses, Wethersfield a six-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change.
