The Archbishop Spalding Cavaliers scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They came out on top against Our Lady of Mount Carmel by a score of 64-53. The victory was just what Archbishop Spalding needed coming off of a 50-30 loss in their prior game.
Whitley Watkins continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a triple-double on 14 points, 16 rebounds, and ten blocks. Watkins is absolutely dominating the block category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Eden Berry, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds.
Archbishop Spalding's win bumped their record up to 8-6. As for Our Lady of Mount Carmel, they bumped their record down to 8-10 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight at home.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Archbishop Spalding will take on McDonogh at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. McDonogh presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Archbishop Spalding in Maryland (McDonogh is ranked sixth, while Archbishop Spalding is ranked 58th). As for Our Lady of Mount Carmel, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Roland Park Country at 5:00 p.m.
