Mitch Trubisky threw for five touchdowns as
Mentor (Ohio) defeated
Solon (Ohio) 56-28 on Saturday.
The Cardinals were up 42-7 at the half after taking the lead on a touchdown pass by Trubisky to
Conner Krizancic in the first quarter.
Trubisky and
Brandon Fritts teamed up to form a dynamic passing combination. Fritts has now caught three touchdowns this season, while Trubisky has thrown 22.
Drew Barksdale played well for the Comets. The senior quarterback caught two touchdowns.
When the two teams played each other last season, Mentor came away with a 44-20 victory.
The loss comes after Solon defeated Medina 42-14 last week. With the win MHS extended its winning streak to four games. The loss snapped Solon's 2-game winning streak.
Mentor (6-1) will play a Northeast Ohio - Valley game against Medina next week, while Solon (4-3) will take on Twinsburg also in a Northeast Ohio - Valley game.
