The Agoura Chargers had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against Newbury Park by a score of 56-47 on Wednesday. The victory was just what Agoura needed coming off of a 66-37 defeat in their prior match.
Agoura's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mathis Simonet led the charge by scoring ten points along with six rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Dj Jacob, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Agoura's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-16. As for Newbury Park, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost ten of their last 13 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-13 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Agoura will take on Oaks Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Oaks Christian presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Agoura in California (Oaks Christian is ranked 191st, while Agoura is ranked 400th). As for Newbury Park, they will head out on the road to take on Calabasas at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
