The Brackett Tigers will take on the Pettus Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Brackett has six straight victories, Pettus has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Brackett put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season two weeks ago. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Charlotte 49-14 at home. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 42-8.
Brackett's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Troy Sandoval, who threw for 36 yards and three touchdowns while completing 100% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Another player making a difference was Demetrius Siler, who rushed for 101 yards and a touchdown on only 14 carries.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 41-14, which was the final score in Pettus' tilt against Woodsboro on Friday. Pettus has not had much luck with Woodsboro recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Although Pettus took the loss, they still got scores from Nathan Orr and Gabriel Hernandez.
Brackett pushed their record up to 8-2 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 39 points. As for Pettus, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's game: Brackett commands a daunting offense this season, having averaged 6.2 touchdowns per game. It's a different story for Pettus, though, as they've been averaging only 1.8 per game. Will Brackett continue their march to the end zone, or will Pettus flip the ?
