Serena is a perfect 3-0 against Aurora Christian since April of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Huskers are taking a road trip to challenge the Eagles at 4:30 p.m. Serena is coming into the game hot, having won their last six games.
Serena's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They blew past Yorkville Christian 11-0. The result was nothing new for the Huskers, who have now won 14 contests by ten runs or more so far this season.
Anna Hjerpe was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Jenna Setchell, who went 1-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base.
St. Edward hit Aurora Christian with a six-run sixth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Eagles came up short against the Green Wave, falling 12-2. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Green Wave recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.
Aurora Christian saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Grace Kendall, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Serena pushed their record up to 18-6 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Aurora Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-13.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Serena hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .322. However, it's not like Aurora Christian struggles in that department as they've averaged .349. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Serena's way against Aurora Christian when the teams last played back in April, as Serena made off with a 15-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Huskers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
