The Chevak Comets pushed their score all the way to 64 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 77-64 hit to the loss column at the hands of Scammon Bay. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game two weeks ago (61), Chevak still had to take the loss.
Scammon Bay had a senior duo take command as Stewie Sundown scored 28 points and Josiah Sundown scored 26 points. Sundown has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last six times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Albert Yunak, who scored 12 points.
This is the second loss in a row for Chevak and nudges their season record down to 1-4. As for Scammon Bay, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-2.
Chevak will head out on the road to challenge Unalakleet at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Scammon Bay does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
