Football Recap: Lincoln Womack's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Cincinnati over Columbus Crusaders

Cincinnati dropped down to 5-3 on Saturday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. The contest between the Eagles and Columbus Crusaders didn't end well, with the Eagles falling 32-14. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lincoln Womack, who picked up 102 receiving yards and two TDs. Womack showed off some serious burst, connecting on a big catch for 51 yards. Cincinnati also got a significant boost from Jordan Jacobson, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 102 yards.

Cincinnati didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Truett Furniss and Holden Culpepper. Culpepper also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with eight. Gerret Hatfield was another major factor on D, picking up a sack, forcing one fumble, and making 15 total tackles.

As for Columbus Crusaders, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 6-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 2.3 points on average over those games.

Ezekiel Bowie produced another solid effort rushing for 212 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 9.6 yards per carry. He has been hot, having posted three or more rushing touchdowns the last six times he's played.

Coming up, Cincinnati will be playing at home against Noblesville L at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Eagles will be up against the Lions' rather soft defense (which has allowed 39.83 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Columbus Crusaders, they will head out on the road to take on C4 E at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (Columbus Crusaders 7.4, C4 E 6.2) so any points scored will be well earned.
