Highland and Lake Station Edison are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2015, but not for long. The Highland Trojans will head out on the road to face off against the Lake Station Edison Fighting Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Highland suffered their biggest defeat since December 14, 2023 on Thursday. Their rough 69-43 loss to Munster might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Highland can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 301st, while Munster is ranked 72nd).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Walter Glover jr, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds. Kayleb Young was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with ten rebounds and four blocks.
Meanwhile, Lake Station Edison's 22-4 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They were dealt a 71-44 loss at the hands of Hebron on Saturday. Lake Station Edison has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Lake Station Edison's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Areion Head, who scored 21 points along with three steals, and Davon Jones who scored 13 points along with four blocks.
Highland now has a losing record at 7-8. As for Lake Station Edison, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 1-10.
Highland ended up a good deal behind Lake Station Edison in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, losing 61-47. Can Highland avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
