Sunnyside Christian fell victim to Pomeroy's stalwart defense and couldn't make it onto the board. They were beaten by the Pirates 62-0. Sunnyside Christian's loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Meanwhile, DeSales put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They claimed a resounding 78-6 win over Dayton at home. Given DeSales' advantage in MaxPreps' Washington football rankings (they are ranked eighth, while Dayton is ranked 46th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Pomeroy's victory bumped their season record to 8-1 while Sunnyside Christian's loss dropped theirs to 4-4.
Sunnyside Christian might still be hurting after the 44-20 loss they got from DeSales when the teams last played back in September of 2022. Can Sunnyside Christian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
