There's no place like home for the Payson Lions, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They took down Salem Hills 55-38 on Tuesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Payson also won the last time the pair played back in November of 2022.
Payson's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cheznie Roundy led the charge by scoring 8 points along with 7 rebounds and 6 assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyah Bahr, who scored 8 points along with 3 steals.
Salem Hills' lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Madi King, who scored 14 points along with 8 rebounds. Brooke Warren was another key contributor, scoring 10 points along with 6 steals and 5 rebounds.
The victory got Payson back to even at 1-1. As for Salem Hills, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-3.
Payson will head out on the road to face off against Maple Mountain at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Maple Mountain's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. As for Salem Hills, they will take on Soda Springs at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in their respective states (Soda Springs is ranked 56th in Idaho, while Salem Hills is ranked 48th in Utah).
