Even though the Western Alamance Warriors scored an imposing 57 points on Tuesday, the Northeast Guilford Rams still came out on top. Northeast Guilford secured a 61-57 W over Western Alamance. This was payback for Northeast Guilford, who suffered a 71-30 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Northeast Guilford was led to victory by Ashton Timberlake and Dennis Fountain. Timberlake scored 16 points along with 4 steals, while Fountain dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. Timberlake is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now stole two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Aaryn Tate, who scored 13 points.
Despite the loss, Western Alamance saw an underclassman step up: Jayden Jones scored 17 points along with 6 rebounds. Joshua Long was another key contributor, scoring 10 points along with 7 rebounds.
The victory got Northeast Guilford back to even at 2-2. As for Western Alamance, they now have a losing record at 1-2.
Northeast Guilford will head out on the road to face off against Williams at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Western Alamance, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Providence Grove at 7:30 p.m. Providence Grove is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.
