Basketball Recap: South Granville Extends Winning Streak to Two

South Granville won the last time they faced Vance County and Braeden Greenup did his part to make sure it happened again. The Vikings snuck past the Vipers with a 63-58 victory on Tuesday with plenty of help from Greenup, who almost dropped a double-double with 26 points and nine boards. His big performance that evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 22 points.

The team also got some help courtesy of DJ Hicks, who posted ten points and six steals. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last five games he's played dating back to last season.

When it comes to explaining why Vance County lost, don't look at Damon Heggie. Despite the final result, he went 5-for-7 on his way to 15 points. Another player making a difference was Del'Quaveon Bullock, who scored ten points and three steals.

The win made it two in a row for South Granville and bumps their season record up to 2-1. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.5 points over those games. As for Vance County, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.

South Granville has already played their next contest, a 79-57 defeat against Eastern Alamance on the 3rd. As for Vance County, they will face off against Louisburg at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
