Several Trojans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Luke Schager, who rushed for 104 yards, and also threw for 125 yards and one TD on only nine passes. Schager's rushing production has been exceptional for a while as that marked his tenth straight game with at least 100 rushing yards. Another player making a difference was Manny Martin, who picked up 112 receiving yards and one score.
Even if they lost, Orland's defense still kept up the pressure with 3.5 sacks. Dillon Rubio refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself. Ivan Velasquez was another major factor on D, making 16 total tackles (1.0 for loss).
Orland moved to 10-3 with that loss, which also ended their six-game winning streak. As for Gridley, their win was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-0.
