The Pearl-Cohn Firebirds won the last time they faced the Marshall County Tigers, and things went their way on Friday too. Pearl-Cohn managed a 56-52 win over Marshall County. The victory was all the more spectacular given Pearl-Cohn's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 251st, while Marshall County is ranked 120th).
Despite the loss, Marshall County still got an impressive performance from Xavier Mosley, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds. Those 12 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Aja Jones, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds.
Pearl-Cohn is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 6-6 record this season. As for Marshall County, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-4.
Pearl-Cohn is on the road again on Friday and play against Henderson County at 7:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024. As for Marshall County, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against LEAD Academy at 6:00 p.m.
