The Gunnison Cowboys had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 29.3 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They took down North Fork 35-21. For Gunnison, this counts as revenge for the 21-13 defeat North Fork walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2022.
Gunnison was led to victory by Royce Uhrig and Graden Buckhanan. Uhrig rushed for 156 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.2 yards per carry, while Buckhanan rushed for 172 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.8 yards per carry.
When it comes to explaining why North Fork lost, one person who can't be blamed is Lane Allen. Despite the final result, he rushed for 125 yards and a touchdown on only 14 carries. Allen was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 60 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Moreno, who rushed for 45 yards and a touchdown.
Gunnison's victory bumped their record up to 8-1. As for North Fork, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-3.
Gunnison does not have any more games scheduled as of now. North Fork is also done with their season.
