Despite the loss, Canton got top-tier performance from Jaden Gee, who threw for 315 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 80.8% of his passes, and also rushed for 76 yards on only five carries. Gee's passing game has become a key predictor of the Tigers' success: the team is 2-1 when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-3 otherwise.
For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last four times Ridgeland and Callaway have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Thursday. The Titans blew past the Chargers, posting a 48-15 victory. The contest marked the Titans' most dominant win of the season.
This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Johnathan Henningburg and Ashton Gorden. Henningburg rushed for 185 yards and one TD on only 15 carries while Gorden gained 166 total yards and two touchdowns.all of that, receiving production came thanks to one massive catch Trae Collins got in on the action as well, returning a kick for a touchdown.
Ridgeland was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 548 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since the start of last season.
Special teams was a major factor in the game for Ridgeland, racking up 11 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Collins, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
Ridgeland pushed their record up to 6-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 43.0 points over those games. As for Canton, they now have a losing record of 3-4.
Canton couldn't quite get it done against Ridgeland when the teams last played back in November of 2022 as they fell 19-12. Thankfully for the Tigers, Ja'Braxton Boone (who rushed for 118 yards and a pair of scores) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
