The Miller Falcons will head out to square off against the Eastern Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Miller has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Eastern will arrive with eight straight wins.
Fisher Catholic hit Miller with a 11-run first inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Falcons lost 16-0 to the Irish. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Falcons were not able to get on the board.
Meanwhile, while Eastern put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Trimble. The Eagles put the hurt on the Tomcats with a sharp 18-0 victory. Considering the Eagles have won eight matchups by more than ten runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Ashlynn Thomas 2027 made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted over her last eight games. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI.
In other batting news, Rylie White 2027 was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Aedre Ault 2028, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Eastern was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .458. They are 9-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Eastern pushed their record up to 11-7 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.0 runs over those games. As for Miller, their loss dropped their record down to 3-9.
Miller couldn't quite finish off Eastern when the teams last played back in May of 2024 and fell 6-4. Can the Falcons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
