Even though The North Duplin Rebels have not done well against the Rosewood Eagles recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. North Duplin came out on top against Rosewood by a score of 39-32. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Dujuan Armwood continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 235 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 13.8 yards per carry. Armwood was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 50 yards. Anthony Kornegay made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
When it comes to explaining why Rosewood lost, one person who can't be blamed is David Lamm. Despite the final result, he rushed for 151 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.6 yards per carry. Lamm is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last four games he's played.
The win makes it two in a row for North Duplin and bumps their season record up to 7-2. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 2-8 Union (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 37.8% over those games). As for Rosewood, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-4.
North Duplin will take on Hobbton at 7:00 p.m. on October 27th. One thing working in Hobbton's favor is that they have now posted big point totals every time they've taken the field this season. As for Rosewood, they will head out on the road to face off against Lakewood at 7:00 p.m. on October 27th. Lakewood will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive.
