After six games on the road, Crete-Monee is heading back home. They will take on the Thornton Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. After both teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky.
Crete-Monee posted their biggest win since November 22, 2023 two weeks ago. Everything went their way against North Lawndale as Crete-Monee made off with a 71-48 win.
Meanwhile, Thornton put the finishing touches on their eighth blowout victory of the season on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by a 68-42 margin over Thornwood. Winning may never get old, but Thornton sure is getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
Meyoh Swansey was his usual excellent self, scoring 25 points along with eight rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Morez Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds.
The victory got Crete-Monee back to even at 9-9. As for Thornton, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-2 record this season.
Crete-Monee suffered a grim 80-60 defeat to Thornton in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Thankfully for Crete-Monee, Vincent Rainey (who scored 28 points along with two steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
