The Capital Golden Eagles will head out on the road to take on the Rocky Mountain Grizzlies at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Capital is hoping to put an end to an eight-game streak of away losses.
Capital suffered their biggest loss since December 16, 2023 on Tuesday. They suffered a rough 49-28 defeat at the hands of Owyhee. While losing is never fun, Capital can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Idaho basketball rankings (they are ranked 71st, while Owyhee is ranked ninth).
Meanwhile, Rocky Mountain was able to grind out a solid victory over Borah on Tuesday, taking the game 37-24. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Rocky Mountain.
Rocky Mountain can attribute much of their success to Anna Dabell, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 14 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Dabell has scored all season.
Capital's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-13. As for Rocky Mountain, their victory bumped their record up to 14-5.
Capital suffered a grim 54-29 defeat to Rocky Mountain in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. The game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Capital was down 31-10.
