The Cottonwood Colts waltzed into their match on Thursday with four straight wins but they left with five. They strolled past Hillcrest with points to spare, taking the game 68-51. That 17 points margin sets a new team best for Cottonwood this season.
Cottonwood's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Peter Oguama, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Nielson, who scored 14 points.
Several Huskies players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Rhett Robinson, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Robinson has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Anton Mahler, who scored 12 points.
Cottonwood is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. As for Hillcrest, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-8.
Cottonwood will be playing in front of their home fans against Stansbury at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Hillcrest, they will head out on the road to take on Tooele at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Tooele is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home.
