MARIETTA, Ga. - After two lead changes,
Walker (Marietta, Ga.) took the lead for good when
Evan Kasian ran for a touchdown with less than a minute remaining in the fourth quarter and held on to beat
Whitefield Academy (Mableton, Ga.) 21-14 on Saturday.
The Wolfpack pulled ahead on a Kasian touchdown run, and subsequently went into halftime leading 14-6. The Wolverines scored the winning points with a Kasian touchdown run that came in the fourth quarter.
Despite scoring zero points in the third, Walker still trailed by 8 points going into the fourth quarter. But 15 points in the fourth helped WHS pull out the victory.
Kasian was the top performer for the Marietta school. The senior running back ran for two touchdowns. He has now scored 20 touchdowns on the season.
Whitefield Academy's
Richard Sherrell played well. He ran for one touchdown.
The Wolverines went into the matchup giving up only 9.6 points per game.
The victory is a complete turnaround from last season's game between these two teams, which WA took, 38-13.
The defeat comes as a step back for Whitefield Academy, which notched a 28-6 victory over Mount Pisgah Christian in its previous outing.
Walker (8-0) goes up against Mount Paran Christian in a A Region 6B game matchup next week, while Whitefield Academy (5-3) locks horns with King's Ridge Christian also in a A Region 6B game.
