Basketball Recap: Monday's Defeat Ends Legacy Academy's Winning Streak

Legacy Academy fought the good fight in their overtime game against Gospel Light Christian on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Gospel Light Christian Lions 58-52. The Warriors' defeat signaled the end of their nine-game winning streak.

Despite the loss, Legacy Academy still got an impressive performance from Oaklee Lofton, who dropped a double-double on 31 points and 16 rebounds. Lofton's evening made it 14 games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Skylar Alexander, who posted 14 points and four steals.

Legacy Academy's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-3. As for Gospel Light Christian, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Legacy Academy will head out to face off against CHAAMP HomeSchool at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Legacy Academy is facing CHAAMP HomeSchool at the right time seeing as CHAAMP HomeSchool is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Gospel Light Christian, they will venture away from home to challenge Christian Ministries Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Gospel Light Christian has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
