The New Milford Green Wave's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their seventh straight loss. They took a 59-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of Pomperaug. If New Milford hoped to take revenge for the 75-48 defeat against they when the teams met, then they were left disappointed.
Several Green Wave players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jacob Czupkowski, who scored nine points along with 12 rebounds and two blocks. That's the first time this season that Czupkowski posted two or more blocks. Another player making a difference was Ryder Gee, who scored 14 points.
Even though they lost, New Milford smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
New Milford bumped their record down to 2-7 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Pomperaug, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 4-5 record this season.
New Milford will head out on the road to take on Stratford at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Connecticut (Stratford is ranked 130th, while New Milford is ranked 155th). As for Pomperaug, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Joel Barlow at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Joel Barlow has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
