The Dayton Dust Devils's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fourth straight loss. They were outmatched by Lowry at home and fell 68-34. Dayton was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-16.
Ayisha Agee and Aileen Hernandez certainly did their best on Wednesday to try and avoid the loss. Agee scored 14 points along with four steals, while Hernandez scored ten points along with two steals. Agee hasn't dropped below two steals for nine straight games.
Dayton struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Lowry racked up 16 assists.
Leading Lowry to victory were Britain Backus and Savannah Stoker. Backus scored 25 points along with five steals, while Stoker scored 25 points along with seven rebounds and six steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Stoker has scored at least a third of Lowry's points. Khlloe Shorey was another key contributor, scoring two points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Dayton has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season. As for Lowry, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-4.
Dayton will stay at home for another game and welcome Churchill County at 6:00 p.m. on January 19th. Hopefully Churchill County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Wednesday. As for Lowry, they will head out on the road to take on Fernley at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Fernley is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
