The Emmanuel Christian Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They opened the new year with a less-than-successful 54-47 loss to White's. Emmanuel Christian lost against White's in their previous head to head back in November of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 67-44 score last time.
Despite the loss, Emmanuel Christian saw an underclassman step up: Zion McKnight dropped a triple-double on 17 points, ten rebounds, and ten assists. Those ten assists set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of George Erickson, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Emmanuel Christian's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for White's, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Emmanuel Christian will challenge Grace Baptist Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. White's will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on St. Sebastian's Soldiers HomeSchool on January 26th.
