If Westside wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Bowdon, they should've done a better job of containing Joshua Hopkins. The Red Devils put the hurt on the Seminoles with a sharp 42-22 victory on Friday with plenty of help from Hopkins, who rushed for 148 yards and two scores on only 14 carries, and also threw for 115 yards and a pair of touchdowns. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 110 rushing yards per game.

Bowdon didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Connor Daniel, Mykah Patterson, and K.K. Patterson picked up one apiece. Bowdon received some extra help from Daniel, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

Westside's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of James Neville, who threw for 274 yards and three TDs while picking up 11.9 yards per attempt, and Kaleb Blount, who gained 49 total yards and a touchdown.

The win (which was Bowdon's third in a row) raised their record to 3-1. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 31.3 points. As for Westside, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.

Coming up, Bowdon will face off against Heard County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Red Devils will need to watch out since the Braves have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season. As for Westside, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Lamar County at 7:30 p.m. on the 19th.
