The Gunnison Valley Bulldogs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight defeat. They were beaten by Duchesne 61-23. Gunnison Valley was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-11.
Despite the defeat, Gunnison Valley saw an underclassman step up: Bryler Blackburn scored 11 points along with five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Blackburn has scored all season.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Gunnison Valley struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Duchesne racked up 19 assists.
Chezney Farnsworth was her usual excellent self, scoring 23 points along with seven rebounds for Duchesne. Another player making a difference was Kira Grant, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and seven steals.
Gunnison Valley has been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 13 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-16 record this season. As for Duchesne, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-5.
