Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Land O' Lakes). They were the clear victors by a 19-2 margin over the Citrus Hurricanes on Friday. Considering the Gators have won five games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Taliah Murria was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Jazlynne Whittington was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Jaila Mitchell was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.
Land O' Lakes kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matchups.
The victory got Land O' Lakes back to even at 7-7. As for Citrus, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-7.
Land O' Lakes wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 9-2 loss against Yulee on the 28th. Citrus has also already played their next game (against Westminster Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
