Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up nine more assists than your opponent, a fact the Olympian Eagles proved on Saturday. They enjoyed a cozy 67-50 win over Madison. Given Olympian's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 148th, while Madison is ranked 569th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Olympian got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Tristan Anderson out in front who scored 17 points. Isaiah Aquino was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Despite the loss, Madison saw an underclassman step up: Tristan Moore scored 13 points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Eli Stevens, who scored eight points along with five rebounds.
Olympian's win bumped their record up to 22-3. As for Madison, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-17.
Olympian's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Eastlake at 7:15 p.m. on February 7th. Olympian knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 18 contests -- so hopefully Eastlake likes a good challenge. As for Madison, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against San Diego at 6:15 p.m. Madison has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
