Crest won the last time they faced Huss and things went their way on Friday too. The Crest Chargers snuck past the Huss Huskies with a 65-59 victory. Winning may never get old, but the Chargers sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Crest got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Cal Pass Jr. out in front who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 boards. Pass Jr. has been hot, having posted eight or more rebounds the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lyrik Pettis, who posted 16 points and five boards.
Crest smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in four consecutive matchups.
Despite the loss, Huss saw an underclassman step up: freshman Jaleel Smith went 11 of 22 on his way to 35 points. Zaiyir 'Zii' Phillips was another key player, putting up ten points in addition to five assists and five rebounds.
Crest's record is now 15-2. As for Huss, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Crest will welcome Ashbrook at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Ashbrook knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 17 games -- so hopefully Crest likes a good challenge. As for Huss, they will host Kings Mountain at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Kings Mountain is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 66.6 points per game this season.
