Tenley Adams made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Arianna Velasco, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last seven games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kyla Holback, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but West Valley ultimately got the result they hoped for last Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Lassen 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Eagles have posted since April 17th.
Like Escalon, West Valley also got a great game from a two-way player: Aubree Wertz. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. Wertz was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, Madison Pemberton was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
Escalon's record is now 16-11. As for West Valley, their record now sits at 28-2.
West Valley's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. Escalon has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for West Valley, though, as they've been averaging only 4 strikeouts. Will Escalon keep running through batters, or will the Eagles buck the trend?
