Crenshaw (Los Angeles, Calif.) jumped out to an early lead against Locke (Los Angeles, Calif.) and never looked back on the way to a 42-8 victory on Saturday.
The Cougars scored 21 points in the first quarter. Crenshaw scored on a
Corey Walker touchdown run, a touchdown pass by
Ajene Harris to Walker and a defensive touchdown.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by Walker in the first quarter, CHS led 35-0 at the half.
Rasool Gilmore made a difference for the Saints. The junior running back ran for one touchdown. His performance brought his touchdown total to two on the year.
Mossi Johnson stood out for the Cougars in the win. The senior wide receiver ran for two touchdowns.
Locke's lone touchdown came on a 2-yard run by Gilmore in the fourth quarter.
Crenshaw came in allowing an average of 22.0 points per game this season. CHS held firm on the defensive front, and kept LHS well below the 30.2 points it had been averaging per game.
A 40-0 Crenshaw victory was the result when the squads faced off last season.
The loss comes after Locke defeated West Adams Prep 54-0 last week. With the win Crenshaw extended its winning streak to four games.
In a Coliseum game next week Locke (2-5) takes on Manual Arts, and Crenshaw (6-1) will go up against Dorsey also in a Coliseum game.
