Softball Recap: Concord Has No Trouble Against Elkhart Christian Academy

Concord won the last time they faced Elkhart Christian Academy and things went their way on Saturday too. The Minutemen were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over the Eagles. Considering the Minutemen have won four games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Concord let Esmeralda Perez and Laela Moore run wild. Perez went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Moore went 2-for-3 with two triples, two runs, and two RBI. Those two triples gave Moore a new career-high. Rheagan Stafford also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Concord was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .538. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in four consecutive matches.

Concord's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-5. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Elkhart Christian Academy, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Concord will face off against Wawasee at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Warriors have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.63 runs per game on average), something the Minutemen will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Elkhart Christian Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Fremont at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Elkhart Christian Academy's pitchers better be ready for this one: Fremont has averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season.
