Last Wednesday, things could have been worse for Florence, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 63-49 loss to Banning Lewis Academy. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Florence in their matchups with Banning Lewis Academy: they've now lost five in a row.

Meanwhile, Colorado Springs Christian suffered a rough 52-30 defeat at the hands of Forge Christian on Saturday. While losing is never fun, Colorado Springs Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 260th, while Forge Christian is ranked 18th).
Despite the loss, Colorado Springs Christian saw an underclassman step up: Mikey Orawiec scored seven points along with six steals. Orawiec continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Miguel Cota-cordova, who scored nine points along with two steals.
Colorado Springs Christian struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Florence's defeat was their sixth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 4-9. As for Colorado Springs Christian, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Florence hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 54.8 points per game. It's a different story for Colorado Springs Christian, though, as they've been averaging only 40.5 points per game. The only thing between Florence and another offensive beatdown is Colorado Springs Christian. Will they be able to keep them contained?
Florence was dealt a bruising 65-24 defeat at the hands of Colorado Springs Christian in their previous matchup back in January of 2023.
