There wasn't a ton of movement in the power rankings this week, but there was certainly enough to keep things interesting. Among the action were the efforts of Archbishop Spalding's senior Jayden Umbarger, an offensive menace who scored five total TDs.
No Stoppin 'Em
67. That was the combined point total for Archbishop Curley and Boys Latin when they went head to head last week, and it set the benchmark for all power ranking teams. Boys Latin came out on top in a nail-biter against Archbishop Curley, sneaking past 35 - 32. Thanks to its success, Boys Latin cracked into the power rankings and now occupies the 24th spot.
Can't Touch This
Franklin got a 49 - 12 win over Dulaney last week, and a key reason for the win was senior Elijah Solomon. Solomon earned four touchdowns and 256 yards rushing the ball. In fact, our algorithms singled out Solomon as one of the top players in the power rankings for the week.
This Week's Big Showdown
One of last week's main attractions was the confrontation between Calvert Hall and McDonogh, 3rd and 7th in the power rankings, respectively. Even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Calvert Hall beat McDonogh 16 - 10. Even if it didn't bump Calvert Hall up the rankings, the win at least kept the team from dropping.
Next Week's Big Game
If you are itching to watch a first-rate contest, no game is supposed to fit the bill better than the one between Archbishop Spalding (4th in the power rankings) and Mount St. Joseph (2nd). Both teams have their heads held high after dominating their previous opponents. Don't be surprised if the score for this one pushes triple digits as Archbishop Spalding and Mount St. Joseph both racked up points last week.
