Mater Academy East Las Vegas put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season on Thursday. They really took it to Eldorado for the full four quarters, racking up a 71-44 win at home. Mater Academy East Las Vegas pushed the score to 60-30 by the end of the third, a deficit the Sundevils cut but never quite recovered from.
Meanwhile, Virgin Valley unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Wednesday. Their rough 63-38 defeat to Democracy Prep Agassi Campus might stick with them for a while. Virgin Valley found out winning isn't easy when you make eight fewer threes than your opponent.
Despite the defeat, Virgin Valley got a solid performance out of Reece Leavitt, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Leavitt has scored all season.
Mater Academy East Las Vegas' victory bumped their record up to 11-5. As for Virgin Valley, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-9.
Mater Academy East Las Vegas strolled past the Bulldogs in their previous matchup back in January by a score of 69-52. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mater Academy East Las Vegas since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
