It was a good run, but the McDonogh Eagles unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Wednesday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 50-49 to Calvert Hall. The loss was just more heartbreak for McDonogh who fell 55-52 when the teams previously met back in February of 2023.
It was another big night for Brendan Johnson, who scored 30 points for Calvert Hall. That makes it four consecutive games in which Johnson has scored at least a third of Calvert Hall's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyrin Bizzelle, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and seven assists.
McDonogh's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-6. As for Calvert Hall, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-15 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. McDonogh will take on the Cougars at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Our Lady of Mount Carmel is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. As for Calvert Hall, they will play host again and welcome the Greyhounds, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Gilman is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak.
