Pottsboro has gone a perfect 4-0 against Pilot Point recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Cardinals will welcome the Bearcats at 7:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Pilot Point will be up against a hot Pottsboro squad: the team just extended their winning streak to six. The Cardinals simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat A Plus Academy 57-6. 57 seems to be a good number for the Cardinals as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Carson Nix had a dynamite game, rushing for 101 yards and three touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Zavier Brady, who picked up 94 receiving yards and one score.
Pottsboro didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Evan Roebuck, Trace Olsen, and Brady picked up one apiece. Roebuck got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, while Pilot Point put up plenty of points last Friday, the same can't be said for A Plus Academy. The Bearcats blew past the Knights 78-0. Given the Bearcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 501st, while the Knights are ranked 1074th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.
Pottsboro better keep an eye on Garrett Evans. He was instrumental in Pilot Point's win, throwing for 110 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 75% of his passes, and also punching in one touchdown on the ground.
Pilot Point was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 301 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 220 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.
Pottsboro's victory bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Pilot Point, their win bumped their record up to 6-1.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Pottsboro has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 168 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Pilot Point struggles in that department as they've been averaging 338.3 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Pottsboro beat Pilot Point 48-40 in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Will the Cardinals repeat their success, or do the Bearcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
