The Trinity Collegiate Titans and the Hammond Skyhawks squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Trinity Collegiate Titans had to settle for second. Trinity Collegiate took a serious blow against Hammond, falling 41-7. Trinity Collegiate has struggled against Hammond recently, as their game on Friday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Cade Amell threw for 143 yards on 15 of 23 attempts. Courtlyn Brunson was his top target, picking up 56 receiving yards.
Trinity Collegiate has yet to win a game on the road this season, leaving them with a 4-8 record. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 9-2 Laurence Manning Academy and 9-2 Porter-Gaud (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 81.8% over those games). As for Hammond, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 9-2.
Trinity Collegiate does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Hammond will look to defend their home field on Friday against Cardinal Newman at 7:30 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in South Carolina (Cardinal Newman is ranked 75th, while Hammond is ranked 51st).
