Pocomoke suffered their biggest defeat since December 8, 2023 on Monday. They had to suffer through a rough 77-36 loss at the hands of Parkside. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Pocomoke has suffered against Parkside since February 13, 2020.
Despite the loss, Pocomoke had strong showings from Maddie Esham, who scored 13 points along with two steals, and Donyae Washington, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 14 rebounds. Washington hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for 11 straight games. Audrey Pham was another key contributor, scoring two points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Crisfield, who are still winless after their 11th contest. They were beaten by Parkside 71-21 on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Crisfield can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 254th, while Parkside is ranked 59th).
Pocomoke's defeat dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Crisfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-11.
Everything came up roses for Pocomoke against Crisfield when the teams last played back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 57-14 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pocomoke since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
