The Gulf Breeze Dolphins had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They were the clear victor by a 51-25 margin over Pace. Given Gulf Breeze's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 217th, while Pace is ranked 586th), the result on Thursday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Hutson Rowe continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 12 points along with three steals. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Trent Peak, who scored five points along with five assists and four steals.
When it comes to explaining why Pace lost, one person who can't be blamed is Javon Purvis. Despite the final result, he scored nine points.
Gulf Breeze's victory bumped their record up to 8-6. As for Pace, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost nine of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-13 record this season.
Gulf Breeze will take on Fleming Island at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Fleming Island focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Friday. As for Pace, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Milton at 6:15 p.m. on January 12th. Milton has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 194 points over their last three matchups.
