NEW HAMPTON, N.H. -
New Hampton School (New Hampton, N.H.) grabbed the lead when
Joey Russell ran for a touchdown with under a minute left in the fourth quarter and held on to beat
Pingree (South Hamilton, Mass.) 54-48 on Saturday. The score was the final lead change in a back-and-forth contest that featured four lead swaps.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by
Justin Assad, the Highlanders went into halftime with a 35-20 lead. The Huskies took the lead to win the game on a Russell touchdown run in the fourth quarter.
Despite scoring 20 points in the third, New Hampton School still trailed by five points going into the fourth quarter. But 14 points in the fourth helped NHS pull out the victory.
The New Hampton school was able to dig itself out of a 22-point hole en route to the beat of Pingree.
The Huskies got revenge for last year's 35-22 loss to PHS with the victory.
The loss comes after Pingree defeated Kents Hill School 58-0 last week.
