Basketball Game Preview: Cumberland Valley Eagles vs. Altoona Mountain Lions

Cumberland Valley has gone 10-0 against Altoona recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Cumberland Valley Eagles will look to defend their home court against the Altoona Mountain Lions at 6:30 p.m. One thing working in Cumberland Valley's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.

Cumberland Valley saw some tournament action on Saturday. They really took it to Downingtown West for the full four quarters, racking up an 82-47 victory. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 22 points or more this season.

Cumberland Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jared Dolimpio led the charge by going 8 for 15 on his way to 21 points and three steals. The dominant performance gave Dolimpio a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Diehl, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 15 points.

Meanwhile, Altoona was able to grind out a solid win over Middletown on Friday, taking the game 58-49. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Mountain Lions' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 430th, while the Blue Raiders are ranked 115th).

Cumberland Valley's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-2. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 34.3 points. As for Altoona, their victory ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-6.

Everything came up roses for Cumberland Valley against Altoona in their previous matchup back in January, as the squad secured a 68-24 win. Will Cumberland Valley repeat their success, or does Altoona have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
